Utilizing data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid program to calculate rural-relevant metrics across five domains, the Lilypad Awards provide a comprehensive and objective assessment of rural health clinic performance. The Lilypad Awards elevate both Provider-Based (hospital-owned) and Independent practices.

Clinics are divided into five geographic regions in the United States and include the two distinct provider types - Provider-Based RHCs and Independent RHCs

Congratulations to the five top states in America! We are proud to honor Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi the five states that have earned “Lilies.” The clinics in these states represent the top performing clinic cohorts in terms of cost effectiveness and operational efficiency.
State Offices of Rural Health receive federal grant funds to support rural primary care providers such as Rural Health Clinics. The purpose of the grant programs is to direct resources to the front line of clinicians that seek to ensure adequate access, clinical care and affordable options in rural communities across the United States.
The Lilypad® Awards Methodology
The Lilypad Awards rank every Rural Health Clinic in the United States based on their most recent Medicare Cost Report.
Our team evaluates every Cost Report for data integrity and maintains all eligible records in a secure data warehouse.
Five performance metrics are calculated for every RHC and a weighting system is applied to produce aggregate scores.
Lilies are awarded to the highest performing clinics in each of the five NOSORH geographic regions.
